The environment is a hot topic right now, literally. The whole ‘global warming’ issue continues to heat up, as does the planet, even though many say that it’s more of a theory than a solid scientific fact.  Regardless, people are becoming aware that their actions do (or at least might) have some direct impact on the direction the planet is headed when it comes to the natural environment. More and more people are taking the initiative to recycle, to use less energy, and to commute smart by carpooling or using public transit. Every little bit helps, and all those statistics on ‘everyone turning off the lights for an hour could save XYZ amount of energy’ are by and large true, but people have the tendency to fixate in one or two little details and completely forget about others. A prime example? With consumer waste. Although people are taking recyclable bags to the grocery store instead of using tons of plastic bags that are not biodegradable and throwing them in landfills afterwards, they are forgetting about not throwing away other items like plastic bottles which can be just as bad or worse. While many people are going the extra mile to recycle motor oil and batteries, they forget to do the same with other electronics like mobile phones and computers. This is especially sad when they could sell iphone 2g parts online for cash instead of throwing them away!
